Utah announced this morning that the season opener at Michigan will kickoff at 1:30 p.m. MDT, 3:30 p.m. in Ann Arbor, Mich.
The Utes are getting a break too. After a run tomorrow they'll be off until Monday. They'll also have a week off before fall camp begins on Aug. 3, leaving them with just about three weeks of summer workouts.
Doug Elisaia, Utah's strength coach, said the guys are looking good and is going to start shifting the emphasis from the weight room to more running and cardio once they return for the 4th of July break.
The latest official addition to the Utes' roster is Alta defensive standout Boo Andersen, who signed the financial aid offer last week. However, that signing was just a formality and he has been in summer camp with the rest of the Utes since the start Elisaia said, so there is no need to worry about him being behind in his training.
"He is still young, but he's doing a good job in the weight room," he said.
The Utes are still working out the contract with Notre Dame for their game in 2010. I guess it's moving on the same slow pace as those stimulus checks we're all probably still waiting on to reach us.
The new uniforms still aren't here, although they should be by the time of the MWC meetings July 21-22.
ESPN has its Utah preview on its Web site.
If you want to meet other Ute football fans and spend a Saturday talking football, head to Liberty Park on July 12 for the www.Utefans.Net Summer BBQ and FUSS Frolic from 2-6 p.m.
