"We're trying to get guys involved," Whittingham said. "He is a tremendous athlete and right now is the No. 4 quarterback, but he is very natural as a receiver."
The general assumption is Christopher will be redshirted, but Whittingham cautioned against assumptions.
"The future is now," he said. "In this day and age of college football you are always playing for the current year and if he can help us, which remains to be seen, at that position, then we'll evaluate it."
And no, no word on Key.
"It's so frustrating," Whittingham said. "We are moving on. If he gets here, it will be a process of integrating him into the system."
Receiver Brent Casteel sat out the afternoon practice with a slight thigh bruise.
I put an update on Utah's recruiting on the recruiting blog, check it out.
