UNLV coach Mike Sanford said TCU is the best team the Rebels have played this year, giving the Horned Frogs credit for their speed and ability.
He didn't come out and say the Frogs were better, but you could read between the lines of what he was saying. Utah he said has an advantage because the Utes didn't have to travel last week.
"But I also think in my mind TCU is a very good football team," he said. "I think it's going to be a matter of special teams are going to have a lot to do with the game and turnovers have a lot. It's a matter of whether Utah can move the ball running and passing vs. TCU's defense and then how much Utah's defense can hold TCU's offense in check."
New Mexico coach Rocky Long said the defenses are comparable with two explosive offenses. "If I was going to bet on this game, which I wouldn't do, both defenses are so strong, I'd bet both offenses are going to struggle."
Wyoming coach Joe Glenn also said TCU was the best team he has faced this season. "But the game is at Utah, Utah has some mo and it's a tough place to play so I'd say it's a coin toss. Utah has some talent and speed and matches up better than we do and Utah always finds a way to get yards and points."
