The NFL insider I spoke with said Kruger is a definite first-rounder. The only thing that may hurt him is some teams might be scared off by the fact that he has no spleen and only one kidney (he lost the other when he was a kid and was in an ATV accident). However, talent wise, this source said Kruger has everything going for him. Both he and Utah defensive coordinator Gary Andersen agreed that Kruger can't get too much better in college. However, Andersen and both Kyle Whittingham believe Kruger would benefit from another year, just to keep honing his skills.
Andersen pointed out that because of his return from a mission, the changing of positions from tight end to defensive end and the recovery from the stabbing he and Greg Newman suffered almost a year ago, Kruger hasn't had a real off-season with the Utes as a defensive end.
"If he'd had a real off-season, who knows how good he'd be," Andersen said.
Andersen said Kruger's biggest improvement recently has been in his game preparation.
"He has learned how to prepare better and focus in on his opponent and find their weaknesses. That has been the biggest part of it."
NBC has its predictions available, warning to Utah fans you won't like the Sugar Bowl prediction.

1 Comments:
NBC got the prediction backward - it'll be 37-7 Utah.
