Feature for you to start the morning on Stevenson Sylvester.
One note that didn't make it on the online edition was the commitment of offensive lineman Archie Muniz from Cypress Creek H.S. in Houston last night. The 6-foot-5, 255-pounder is the 15th commitment for the Utes for their 2010 class and the eighth from Texas.
He is another Morgan Scalley get for the Utes. Those who watch the Utes practice are always entertained by Scalley and his energy. He is constantly on his players, whether taunting them with yells of "touchdown, touchdown" when they let the offense get the best of them or reminding Robert Johnson he still has some speed when he beat him in a foot race Saturday (to be fair to Johnson, he'd already sprinted about 5 times and was in full gear).
Scalley always brings the energy, it's evident he has that same kind of energy level in recruiting too.
Scalley's biggest signee out of Texas last year was Terrance Cain, who already has had a role in shaping the Utes' future by bumping Corbin Louks out of the QB rotation.
While we're on the subject of recruiting Dave Schramm told me he stayed in touch with Jordan Wynn even after he committed to Colorado for two reasons. First, "the farce of recruiting is it's not over until signing day with the internet and all that stuff, the commitment a young man makes to go some place, it's never over until signing day," he said.
The second reason he stayed in touch with those around Wynn is because he was recruiting lineman Sam Brenner, who is in camp now with the Utes too. Schramm said he made sure Wynn called the Colorado coaching staff to tell them he was looking elsewhere before he started actively recruiting Wynn again.
"I think he knew we were the best place for him, time will tell," Schramm said.
Couple other links to start the morning. The Utes are No. 19 in Sporting News, SI has them No. 19 as well, here is the article in case you didn't get it in your mailbox earlier this week. Finally there is a Utah mention from the Oregon side.
